For the first time, Papua New Guinea has submitted a film to the Oscars, selecting Papa Buka as its official entry in the Best International Feature Film category. Directed by award-winning Indian filmmaker Dr. Biju, the film represents a rare cultural collaboration between PNG and India, following two historians who journey across PNG in search of World War II veteran Papa Buka, portrayed by local tribal leader Sine Boloro.
